This section is the home of our editor’s regularly featured column, ‘What’s In a Name, What’s In a Word?’ Which will explore the essential logistics and psychology of language. If we are to respect or uphold the freedom of speech, AP Mag’s editor explains to us that it’s not about speech as much as it is about thought – the ability to speak freely starts and ends with the ability to think freely. We need to be able to appreciate the power of reflective, introspective thinking first which inspires the power of speech. This is what ultimately sets us free and makes us truly independent as balanced centrists instead of emotional radicals who are hypersensitive to words that we do not fully understand.

As consumers, as parents, as educated people, we learn to shape our culture, not with a limited vernacular but rather, an expanded vocabulary, which brings a deeper, nuanced meaning and a sense of clarity that helps us to make better, well-informed decisions. By doing this, we can stop living in the sound byte echo chambers and escape the imprisoning and unsophisticated false dichotomy of binary, monolithic thinking.

An Intro Into The Column, ‘What’s In a Name, What’s In a Word’

Many of us have taken our freedom to speak for granted. Consumers cannot make the best well-informed decisions if they don't fully understand what it is someone is selling or offering.
