Being ‘Up a creek’ is NOT a bad idea as ‘Up the Creek Camping’ tells us…

Are you so tired from the daily grind of work and other stress, that you feel, as they say, ‘up a creek with no paddle’ and see no sun at the end of your tunnel? Well maybe you need to take some time off, reconnect with nature and get on out to explore the beautiful side of being outdoors at the campgrounds, aptly named UP THE CREEK CAMPING! Except here, you do have a paddle to help navigate your boat! Actually, you have more than just a paddle – you have a lot of other fun adventures to take advantage of while unplugging from the crazy digital world!

Stacy Foster and her partner, Walter Taylor, have owned this camping business since they opened it in June of 2012. They had owned the land prior to the business deal, so that made things easier to set up the campgrounds. Says Stacy, “We already had grown to love this place, and with the vision we had of turning this into what it became was a dream come true.”  Foster goes on to tell us about the campgrounds and how they sit on 13 acres, so there is plenty of space to sprawl about here. The fun recreational activities one can do here are endless….for a couple or a family, there are many choices – fishing, canoeing, boating – all the outdoorsy stuff campers love to do plus other fun and relaxing things to explore!

There is a lovely little creek which is a big drawing feature for many of their guests  – Johnathon Creek, and it runs along on the property line; bring your paddle boats if you want a leisure boat ride!  As for fishing, some of the fish – blue gills, small mouth and large mouth, cat fish, rock fish, croppy, etc, are available when fishing and yes, you can eat it too! (Not just catch and release)!

There are 30 RV Outlets available and they can take bigger campers as well, and that is a huge plus, given how many campgrounds only can take on the smaller campers of limited sizes. Says Foster, “We do what we can to accommodate people in the ways we are able. We’re in the process of building 10 more sites for hookup; adding a shower house later this summer… we do have a playground and will be adding more equipment; as we save up, we build,” she says with warm enthusiasm in her voice.

This is also a great place for hunters… Says Foster, ”We get hunters in deer season…hunters come here from several states, and it’s nice to see that. There is also a family of geese on the property –  wild life is pretty close by; it’s possible to turkey-hunt.”

Whether you’re a hunter of wildlife or a hunter of simple fun and adventure, there are other forms of recreation – something here for the whole family! For those who like to get in their daily exercise, there are also some local biking and hiking trails nearby…but sometimes, we all need to reconnect with the city when we’ve been out in the wild for a while. Adds Foster, “What’s great about this is that although we’re out here in these primitive parts, the city conveniences and other conventional amenities are close to us. Within only a couple minutes from Walmart too…there are several stores and restaurants close by – within couple minutes driving distance.”
